Top End Trekking

A recent trip to the Bungle Bungles and the Kimberleys in WA has resulted in a fair amount of inspiring material to draw on for new works. On this page, I will keep adding the images as they pour out of me and onto paper and canvas. Keep coming back and if you are interested in a work, then just let me know!

These are larger works and I call them "explorations" as I start to expand and loosen up. I work in various media on canvas and paper to explore the form, colours and flow of the land. These works are more adventurous than my field notes below, as the field notes (diary) are made on the journey and are constrained for various reasons.

"Reflections"
Oil on Oil Paper
48 cm x 29 cm

"Desert Flow "
Oil on Paper

"Bungled"
Oil on Oil Paper
75 cm x 28.5 cm

"Lake Eyre"
Oil on Paper
28 cm x 22 cm

"Twin Lakes" - SOLD
Oil on Canvas
26 cm x 26 cm

These small works on paper are my "field notes". I make these along the way of each journey to help me connect with the landscape, note the forms and colours and the lay of the land. I use them for memory joggers in the studio and reference material. They evoke the strongest memories in me as they have been made in situ.
